This is the story of the Very Hungry Monster.

VHM page 1

 

 

Hungry Monster’s name is Andy.
Andy is very hungry.
He can eat apples, bananas, and many kinds of food.

On Monday, he ate one piece of bread.
But he was still hungry.

On Tuesday, he ate two pieces of banana.
But he was still hungry.

This story was created by a student based upon the “Hungry Caterpillar” and illustrated with his own drawings and some help from the teacher. It highlights a lot of creativity on the student’s part, and originality in the way he handled the ending!

It’s been an interesting experiment and there is a certain excitement in the children every time we distribute it. We always feature our students best works in the first page. In this issue, we featured a piece of creative art, and an online video made from writing that students did: Bob and Pig Go To The City.

I only have two regrets with the newsletter: that we’re not able to source more Chinese Language content, and that the newsletter we hand out isn’t in color (it’s made on our photocopier!). Other than that, I think it’s exciting and acts as a good way to reach out to the local market.

I’m interested in self-publishing. I started my own Journal as I thought there was a gap in the market. See the signature for more information. I’m looking at distribution both in Taiwan and worldwide. I’d be interested in finding out why you write: “I’ve since licenced my books to Bookman in Taiwan, but am having some serious regrets now. “I’m still exploring options. I’m interested in publishing some of my own materials, too. I don’t know exactly much about that.
I do know that some of my worksheets would be of use to others. I doubt that I would want to publish them as a book though. I\’m looking at downloadables right now.
